Brief Summary Of SAMAN SALAMAT Company

Story starts about 12 years ago.

The CEO and founder of SAMAN SALAMAT Company, Dr. Alireza Fakhrabadi, was at that time the CEO of one of the largest wholesaler/distributor companies in IRAN which is Alborz Distribution Company. Being the CEO of a large distribution company, he witnessed firsthand the abuses that were made and the frustration of prior efforts to control the situation. So, he came up with an idea (i.e. serialization) to rectify these deficiencies once and for all. He registered his idea with the Iranian Patent Office.

The patent was granted on March 6, 2007. The patent Number is 39330 and the title reads “a system to control the authenticity of consumer products”. The patent was never filed in any foreign country through Paris Convention or PCT; therefore, it remains valid only within the boundaries of Islamic republic of Iran.

Proposal to IRFDA

Dr. Fakhrabadi rewrote his patent in the form of a proposal and took it to the Iranian Food & Drug Administration. The proposal was well received by the medicine committee and the committee issued a mandate which required all imported medical products with monetary value of 500,000 RLS and more (roughly 50 USD at that time) to be serialized.

TTAC launches

Track, trace and authentication control system (TTAC) first launched on February 25, 2008; covering only imported medicine with monetary value exceeding 500000 RLS. Within 2 years from the first launch, the operation expanded to include all imported medicine, followed by the domestically produced medicine.

At this point in time, the scope of operation is small and nothing is yet signed into law. However, the medicine committee of IRFDA is authorized by the law to decide independently on areas regarding its own domain without having to ask for permission from higher authorities.

Building the machinery

Building the machinery

At that point in time, except for label applicators, the machinery which could handle the specific tasks required for the serialization process were not available. Therefore, a team of university students led by SAMAN SALAMAT CO. were gathered to design and build the required machinery.

Machines built by this team could automatically capture the serial number on affixed labels while passing through the packaging lines via a camera, check the serial number against the database, and aggregated those packages in higher orders. Specialized label applicators were also designed and built.

This team later on formed a company by the name of ARSHAM MASHIN which is the daughter company of SAMAN SALAMAT CO.
